Our Empty Miles Promise
TQL is committed to a reduction of 45 million empty miles by 2025.
The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions1.
Leveraging TQL’s proprietary technology and carrier network of 160,000+, we are committed to eliminating 45 million empty miles, or miles driven by carriers that are not hauling any freight, by 2025.
We offer multiple modes and services that reduce emissions, use less fuel and slash the number of empty miles driven. We focus on environmental sustainability through industry groups and certifications, operational efforts and collaboration with our customers and carriers.

SUSTAINABILITY TO SERVE YOUR INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS NEEDS
An industry leader in the safe and compliant movement of hazardous materials, TQL is dedicated to sustainability practices in the chemical industry’s supply chain. TQL is part of Together for Sustainability, a global initiative that fosters transparency, collaboration and improvements among member chemical companies. TQL also partners with the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care Program and is a four-time Responsible Care Partner of the Year. Read more about our Responsible Care policy here.
In addition to cost savings and added capacity, intermodal rail services have a reduced carbon footprint. Every truckload that is moved as an intermodal shipment reduces greenhouse emissions by as much as 75%. One ton of freight can move 479 miles per gallon of fuel.
TQL has been a SmartWay Transport Partner since 2010. Smartway Transport is the EPA’s program to help “companies advance supply chain sustainability by measuring, benchmarking, and improving freight transportation efficiency.” As a SmartWay Transport Partner, we utilize SmartWay-qualified carriers when possible for our customers’ truckload shipments. We educate our customer and carrier networks about the SmartWay vision and encourage them to make choices that positively impact their businesses and the environment.
