What Truck Drivers Dream About

Cincinnati - It’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and time to thank one of America’s 3.5 million truck drivers who spend long days on the road and time away from their family and friends to keep our economy strong. Nearly 70% of everything you use or consume has traveled on a truck.

Total Quality Logistics is saluting the American truck driver and raising awareness for the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF) through its first ever Drivers Dreams program and fundraiser.

Professional truck drivers have been submitting their dreams, wishes, and needs to the Drivers Dreams website for the past two weeks. The dream submission period ended at midnight on Wednesday, September 12. The submissions have been narrowed down to the top 10 most compelling, and drivers, their family, and friends now have the opportunity to vote on the dream they want TQL to fulfill. A total of $10,000 will be granted by TQL to help make drivers dreams come true.

Some of the dreams that have made it to the final round include a wish to take one last vacation as a family before the kids are grown and gone; a dream of owning a boat to fish with the grandchildren, and the need for a van-lift for a paralyzed son. Go to the Drivers Dreams website to read all of the finalists’ dreams and vote for your favorite.

For every click on the web site and every vote cast to the Drivers Dreams website, TQL will donate $1 to SCF, one of the only charities in the country solely focused on assisting truck drivers and their families. TQL will donate up to $25,000 to SCF. Voting is open until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, September 22. The winning dream or dreams will be announced on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

So what else do truck drivers dream about? The following infographic provides a breakdown of what is desired by truck drivers today, based on the nearly 700 submissions received by TQL.
