TQL Supports Stop Hunger Now with Moves that Matter Gift
Longwood, Fla. – Total Quality Logistics announced its March Moves That Matter recipient. TQL made a $1,000 gift to Stop Hunger Now’s Orlando location to assist with its mission to end hunger around the world.
Moves That Matter benefits non-profit organizations who use the truckload transportation industry to move items that will help those suffering or in need. TQL employees, customers or carriers can nominate non-profit organizations with whom they have worked to help move an important load of freight.
TQL connected with Stop Hunger Now earlier this year after the organization came to an employee’s church in Fort Lauderdale for a meal-packing event. When about 60 church members packaged nearly 10 tons of meals in less than an hour, he became impressed with SNH’s mission and efficiency and began looking for a way to offer additional support.
Stop Hunger Now – headquartered in North Carolina - has packaged and delivered more than 225 million meals since its founding in 1998.
"With this gift, Stop Hunger Now will be better positioned to send life-saving aid to our overseas partners,” said Paul Renaud, SNH aid procurement director. “Specifically we will use these funds to move desperately needed aid such as water filters, soap and medicine between our U.S. warehouses in advance of overseas shipments. This aspect of our work is often overlooked and underfunded, so thank you for supporting this key critical component in our mission of ending world hunger."
"We are pleased to make this gift to Stop Hunger Now,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL president. “They are doing important work across the country and around the world to help those in need.”
Moves That Matter began in 2014 with a gift to the Where Angels Play Foundation. TQL learned it was entrusted to move the equipment to build the last six of 26 Connecticut playgrounds constructed in memory of each victim of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.
Moves That Matter is administered by TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service initiative.
