TQL Supports American Red Cross with Moves that Matter Gift
Baton Rouge, LA. – Following the worst natural disaster to hit the United States since Hurricane Sandy four years ago, Total Quality Logistics made a made a $1,000 gift to the American Red Cross to assist flood relief in Louisiana.
Moves That Matter benefits non-profit organizations who use the truckload transportation industry to move items that will help those in need. TQL employees, customers or carriers can nominate non-profit organizations with whom they have worked to help move an important load of freight.
When floods ravaged Louisiana, a TQL sales team leader learned one of his customers was donating a truckload of food to relief efforts. He took the initiative to approach the corporate giving team to see how the company could help.
“The Red Cross is grateful for the support from TQL,” said Joshua Joachim, Chief Executive Officer of the Louisiana Red Cross. “When companies join forces to help those in need, it helps our communities heal.”
“When determining where to direct this month’s gift, the selection was easy,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL president. “The American Red Cross does a great job around the country making sure people get the help they need to rebuild, often working with our customers and carriers to get supplies in and out of the impacted areas.
Moves That Matter began in 2014 with a gift to the Where Angels Play Foundation. TQL learned it was entrusted to move the equipment to build the last six of 26 Connecticut playgrounds constructed in memory of each victim of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.
Moves That Matter is one of the many programs administered by TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service initiative.
