TQL Named To National Top 150 Workplaces List

Cincinnati  Total Quality Logistics (TQL) has been named one of the Nation’s Top 150 Workplaces by WorkplaceDynamics.

TQL ranked 74 out of 872 companies nationwide with more than 1,000 employees. The rankings were determined solely by responses to employee surveys WorkplaceDynamics conducted on topics such as employee engagement, benefits, and management.

“We’re thrilled that the culture and drive that we have worked so hard to cultivate since we first opened our doors is being replicated in our national satellite offices,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL executive vice president.

TQL is the second largest freight brokerage in the nation, specializing in truckload transportation. They are the middleman between shippers who have freight that needs to be moved with carriers who have the capacity to move it.

TQL hopes to add 300-400 new salespeople to the company this year. The company is headquartered in Cincinnati, but operates 16 satellite locations across the nation with plans of more to come.

“Our rapid expansion offers tremendous opportunities for upward mobility due to the number of leaders we need to open new offices and train new sales teams,” said Byrne. “More than 90% of our current sales leadership team has been promoted from within.”

TQL salespeople are responsible for identifying shippers who need assistance moving freight, finding quality carriers to haul that freight, negotiating rates, and ensuring on-time delivery. New hires with the company must go through a rigorous logistics and sales training program before starting to hunt for new clients.

Once training is completed, the company offers its employees the opportunity to earn unlimited commissions on top of their base salary. The average compensation for a salesperson who has been selling with TQL for only two years is more than $60,000. For the top 20% of sales people in the company, that number hurdles to an average of more than $100,000.

TQL emphasizes to all those considering a job with the company that it is a challenging job in an extremely fast-paced and competitive industry. “Work ethic and tenacity are the primary components of success,” said Byrne.
