TQL Moves that Matter Program Donates to California Assoc. of Food Banks

Total Quality Logistics is giving $1,000 to the California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) as part of its Moves that Matter program.

CAFB is an organization of 42 food banks from the state committed to building a well-nourished California. One of its major programs is Farm to Family, which works with growers and packers to provide more than 140 million pounds of fresh produce to food banks each year.

Moves that Matter awards money to non-profit organizations using the truckload transportation industry. TQL customers, carriers, and employees nominate the award recipients based on shipments they help arrange or haul.

“We hope the program helps highlight the important work done by the truckload transportation industry. It also allows us to expand our charitable efforts across the country,” said TQL Executive Vice President Kerry Byrne.

Moves that Matter started in June when the company was arranging transportation for playground shipments. The playgrounds were part of an effort to honor the 26 lives lost in the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. 

“It had an emotional impact. Family members of the victims and hundreds of volunteers were counting on us to make sure those shipments arrived,” said Byrne.
