TQL Military Hiring Efforts Continue To Surge Forward As Country Prepares To Celebrate Veteran's Day

Cincinnati - Total Quality Logistics (TQL) continues its efforts to recognize and thank the men and women who serve this country with several new initiatives aimed at putting more veterans to work within the TQL organization and helping to ease the transition of its military hires into civilian roles.

On Monday, November 12, Captain Anthony S. Christmas, Commander, Kings Mills Army Recruiting Company will welcome TQL into its Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program during an official signing ceremony at the company’s corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a member of the PaYS program, TQL commits to interviewing all interested and eligible Army candidates who apply for a position at its company.

“The program guarantees an interview,” said Captain Christmas. “Hopefully, in most cases, jobs will result. But for those who are not hired, this is a chance for them to be mentored by TQL on resume and interviewing skills and building better qualifications.”

TQL recruiters also are being mentored by one of their own on how to better read military discharge orders. TQL Cincinnati Sales Recruiter Matthew Disher is a Marine Corps veteran and knows that military jargon can be hard to interpret. “But if you can read these orders, you can find a phenomenal new employee,” said Disher.

Military hiring efforts are not new to TQL. The company frequently attends military-specific recruiting events, such as RecruitMilitary’s Hiring Our Heroes career fairs. This past April, TQL received a Patriot Award for its support of employees in the National Guard and Reserves. And in the spring of 2012, two TQL recruiters participated in an Ohio National Guard refueling mission to experience firsthand what members of the National Guard do for our country.

“Members of the military possess the most important of skills that we are looking for in our Logistics Account Executives. They have an outstanding work ethic, they are quick to learn new skills, and they find success in any situation,” said TQL Vice President of Recruiting, Bill Neese.

In addition to its commitment to Army PaYS, TQL actively recruits from all branches of the military by advertising its open positions on military-specific web sites and job boards. The company also is introducing a new Veteran Mentorship Program internally. New hires to the company who are currently or have previously served in the military will be paired with tenured TQL employees who also have served in the military. The hope is that the program will help ease the transition from military to civilian life for those who have been recently discharged, and provide additional camaraderie and support for all those who have this shared background.

“This is a win-win effort for TQL,” said Neese. “We continue to identify and recruit the best talent to handle our customers’ transportation needs and we provide quality positions to those who have demonstrated the highest work ethic possible in my mind, choosing to serve and protect their fellow Americans.”
