Cincinnati, OH On July 7, 2007 a group of employees from Total Quality Logistics, a Cincinnati based logistics company, volunteered their time to clean a section of the Great Miami river bank for the "Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River." The joint effort takes place over two weekends and spans from just North of Dayton, OH down to the Ohio River. The Cincinnati area cleanup was sponsored by the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District, Hamilton County Park District, OKI Regional Council of Governments, Friends of the Great Miami and Colerain Township.
The employees spent four hours Saturday morning cleaning the banks with an upbeat energy and a great attitude. When it comes to river cleanups, Total Quality Logistics lives up to its name. Were it not for TQL, the Great Miami River would still look like a junkyard under the U.S. 27 bridge. It s refreshing to see a company do so much for conservation, remarks Bruce Koehler, a former president of the Friends of the Great Miami who was present the day of the event.
Seventeen TQL employees showed up for the event on Saturday morning. The majority of the group worked in Colerain Township at the Heritage Park site and removed large scale trash such as ovens, and refrigerators. The remainder of the group worked in an area of the river by Blue Rock Road and cleaned up trash and debris.
"At TQL we are proud to have a team of dedicated and well-rounded employees who believe in giving back to the community," said Ken Oaks, president and CEO of TQL. "I am pleased by the success of the Clean Sweep and honored our employees are spending time and putting forth an effort to make a difference."
