TQL Can't Contain Its Growth In Lexington, KY.

Lexington – Total Quality Logistics has moved its Lexington office from its former 3,000 sq. ft. site on Old Rosebud Road to a new 10,000 sq. ft. location at 2473 Fortune Drive, making it one of TQL’s largest satellite offices.

Less than two years ago, TQL started the office with six employees from Cincinnati. Today, the TQL Lexington team has grown to 60 employees and plans to triple in size to more than 200 employees within the next three years.

TQL is headquartered in Cincinnati, but has been pursuing an aggressive national expansion campaign for the past four years, opening 17 satellite offices across the country with plans of more to come.

“The key to our company’s growth is attracting hard working, ambitious individuals to a fast-paced, high growth industry,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL executive vice president. “In return, we can offer a rewarding career opportunity to job seekers in and around Lexington.”

TQL is now the second largest freight brokerage in the nation, specializing in truckload transportation. The company employs more than 2,000 and moves more than 14,000 loads of freight every week. The company has grown an average of 30% per year since its founding in 1997.

TQL salespeople are responsible for identifying shippers who need assistance moving freight, finding quality carriers to haul that freight, negotiating rates, and ensuring on-time delivery. New hires with the company participate in a rigorous logistics and sales training program.

TQL has committed to the commonwealth of Kentucky to create at least 75 jobs by 2015 at its expanded Lexington office, but the company anticipates exceeding that number, as it has added 50 workers this year alone. The company offers its employees the opportunity to earn unlimited commissions in addition to their base salary. The average compensation for a salesperson who has been selling with TQL for only two years is more than $60,000. For the top 20% of sales people in the company, that number hurdles to an average of more than $100,000.

But TQL also emphasizes to job seekers that this is a challenging position in an extremely fast-paced and competitive industry.

“Work ethic and tenacity are the primary components of success within our company and this industry,” said Byrne.
