TQL and Once Upon a Farm deliver truckloads of fresh food to children in need

TQL’s Moves that Matter and Once Upon a Farm’s A Million Meals unite to fight food insecurity

Cincinnati, Ohio (June 6th, 2024) — Total Quality Logistics (TQL), the second-largest freight brokerage in North America and one of the largest global third-party logistics firms, and Once Upon a Farm, the next generation children's nutrition company, have collaborated to bring nutritious snacks and meals to kids in food-insecure communities.

Through TQL’s Moves that Matter and Once Upon a Farm’s A Million Meals, more children are eating healthy meals. Moves that Matter, which has committed $2 million to arranging and covering the transportation of donated goods, is contributing a portion of its pledge to its Once Upon a Farm partnership. A Million Meals has pledged to deliver 1 million nutritious meals to kids in food-insecure communities by 2025 through a partnership with Save the Children, a global non-profit helping kids grow up healthy, educated and safe. Together, Moves that Matter and A Million Meals have provided 24 truckloads of organic Fruit & Veggie Blends – about 200,000 nutritious meals – for Save the Children’s early education and nutrition programs.

“We started Moves that Matter in 2014 with a simple mission, and that’s to utilize our resources and expertise to make the transportation of donated goods easy for nonprofits,” TQL President Kerry Byrne said. “Our partners at Once Upon a Farm are an incredible example of a company using its platform to make an impact on food insecurity. We’re proud to play a role in helping nourish children in need.”

As a mission-driven company, Once Upon a Farm aims to help the estimated 13 million kids struggling with hunger in America. In 2021, the company partnered with Save the Children to launch A Million Meals. Studies show hunger can negatively impact children’s academic performances and behavior in school, preventing them from developing to their full potential.

By donating its transportation expertise, TQL ensures the delivery of fresh food to hungry children.

“Our partnership with Total Quality Logistics helps us to bring our mission to life and to reach the millions of kids who need access to nutritious food,” said Larry Waldman, Once Upon a Farm President and COO. “Together with Save the Children, we remain committed to working together to provide the nourishment and resources these families need to build a healthy foundation for a promising tomorrow.”

“Save the Children is incredibly grateful for Once Upon a Farm and TQL’s collaborative approach to supporting our U.S. nutrition programs,” said Betsy Zorio, vice president of U.S. Programs for Save the Children. “This partnership is helping close the gap for children struggling with hunger across rural America, ensuring they have access to the nourishing food they need for a healthy, strong foundation to thrive as learners and in life.”

TQL’s Moves that Matter program allows nonprofits and those donating goods to worry less about logistics and more about serving the community. Through TQL’s 140,000-plus carrier network, Moves that Matter has provided $1.2 million in transportation needs toward its $2 million goal.
