Cincinnati, OH – Total Quality Logistics (TQL), a third party freight brokerage firm headquartered in Union Township, recently donated more than $5,500 to the “Let Us Never Forget” scholarship fund. The donation resulted from a week-long pledge to contribute $1 from the proceeds of each freight shipment the company arranged for its clients during the week of Memorial Day.
Total Quality Logistics connects its clients, manufacturers, produce growers and other freight shipping companies with for-hire carrier companies and truck drivers who transport their merchandise across the country. The Memorial Day donation campaign hit-home with TQL’s clients and carriers alike, along with some of the company’s 1000 employees, as large portions of these groups are former or active members of the US military. Total Quality Logistics wanted to honor these individuals for their sacrifices and dedication to our country, while recognizing their much-deserved time off during the holiday.
The “Let Us Never Forget” Scholarship Fund was chosen because of its local Clermont County connection. The fund was founded in 2006 by the Maupin family in conjunction with the Yellow Ribbon Support Center in order to commemorate Matt Maupin, a Clermont county soldier who was the first POW/MIA of the Iraqi Freedom war. The fund provides scholarships to high school seniors in the names of fallen soldiers. To date, the scholarship fund has provided over $239,000 to students.
“Before joining Total Quality Logistics, I served in the Marine Corps for over 10 years. I have become very involved with the Yellow Ribbon Support Center over the years and have seen first-hand the work that is being done around the community to commemorate fallen soldiers,” says Stephen Huebschman, a Logistics Account Executive. “I am pleased to see the company that I work for honor its veteran employees and support the local military community. TQL’s donation will help the Yellow Ribbon Support Center in continue their mission in the area.”
Total Quality Logistics first became involved with the Yellow Ribbon Support Center when Matt Maupin was laid to rest in 2008. The company donated the use of its parking lot to funeral attendees. TQL plans to continue supporting the Center by sponsoring a Father’s Day walk on June 21, 2009. The walk will be held from noon to 3:00 p.m. at TQL’s facilities and will include games, face painting, and races so kids can spend time with their fathers while donating to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center.
