“Lose Weight And Cover Freight” At TQL

Cincinnati - Total Quality Logistics wrapped up its 2013 company-wide weight loss challenge more than 2,000 lbs. lighter and 292 inches trimmer. TQL’s Biggest Loser competition, inspired by the hit NBC TV show from which it takes its name, has taken place every year since 2009.

“This year we had a record 250 employees from 17 of our 18 offices participate in the program,” said Lindsay Elliott, HR representative and organizer of the wellness effort.

The challenge started in January and for eight weeks employees competed as individuals and teams for the largest percentage of weight loss, the largest reduction in body fat percentage, the most points lost from their Body Mass Index, and the most inches lost around the middle.

This year, the company added an online discussion board to the challenge where employees could share tips on healthy snacks, favorite workout tunes, and compete in weekly mini-challenges. TQL’s weight loss challenge was even featured on The List, a television news magazine show developed by E.W. Scripps that looks at the hottest news trends.

“TQL employees are extremely motivated. When they commit to anything, they commit 110%. And if we make our wellness programs a competition – look out! This is a competitive crew. That’s why this program is so successful year after year,” said Elliott.

TQL is committed to ongoing wellness efforts for all of its employees, including a state-of-the-art 10,000 sq. ft. workout facility at its corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, access to fitness centers at its satellite offices, and after-hours events that encourage physical activity, including 3 on 3 basketball tournaments, dodgeball challenges, and the TQL Running Club. In 2012, TQL was named one of the Healthiest Employers in both Cincinnati, Ohio and Tampa, Florida.
