First TQL Urban Race Obstacles Revealed
- Tiger Flights, Obstacle 5 – A more-than-300-step stair climb to the top of Paul Brown Stadium. Hustle through the concourse of the concrete jungle and then sprint your way back down the exit ramps.
- The Junkyard, Obstacle 2 – Climb, leap, jump, and hurdle over the urban traffic jam of vehicles clogging the race path.
- Tread Lightly, Obstacle 9 – Running through tires on flat ground is a challenge. Running through them on an incline is an obstacle. Pick your knees up high and chop your feet through hundreds of tires as you climb up the exit ramp from Gest to Linn Street. This obstacle is sponsored by AAA|Bob Sumerel Tire & Service
TQL Urban Race takes place Saturday, October 12. The race begins and ends at the newly-renovated Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine and will route runners approximately 3.5 miles through the streets of downtown. The race is open to anyone age 16 and up and organizers encourage runners of varying fitness abilities to consider signing up.
“This will be a fun, but tough to moderate challenge for most competitors,” said Jo Wehage, marketing director at TQL. “There will be an option at each obstacle for racers to take a time penalty instead of participating in the challenge. We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable at this race. You won’t be eligible for the cash prizes if you don’t complete an obstacle, but you will still have a fantastic time being part of an event that is completely new to the city of Cincinnati.”
Obstacles will continue to be unveiled weekly, now through the beginning of September. Stay up-to-date as the challenges are revealed by following TQL Urban Race on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TQLUrbanRace or Twitter @TQLUrbanRace.
A portion of the proceeds from TQL Urban Race will be donated to the Marvin Lewis Community Fund and the Reds Community Fund.
