Dog Days of Summer Challenge a doggone good time for TQL’ers and their pets
TQL’ers and their pets had a pawsitive summer experience by participating in the Dog Days of Summer Challenge in all 56 locations from July 24 to Sept. 1.
The challenge was to walk 26.2 miles, the length of a marathon, over six weeks with a furry friend (or on behalf of that friend) through the WoofTrax app while raising money for charity.
TQL’ers responded in a big way, with 534 participants combining for 4,708 walks across 5,846 miles. Entrants selected 130 unique nonprofits to donate to annually based on their number of steps.
TQL’ers also donated more than $8,800 to the Humane Society of the United States through their entry fees. Paired with TQL’s 50% match, the total Humane Society donation totaled $13,300.
What’s a fun event without swag? Even dogs (and cats) received their share of goods for this event. Each TQL’er was given a race T-shirt, a bandana for their pet and a finisher sticker.
The good times carried over to a weekly group chat in which TQL’ers built camaraderie and competed for prizes.
Winners were awarded $50 gift cards in these categories:
- Cool for the Summer Photo Contest (pictures of pets having summer fun)
- Guess the Number of Dog Treats in a Jar
- Post a Funny Pic of Your Pet
- Match the Pet to the TQL Executive to Whom it Belongs
- Pet Swag (pictures of participants in their T-shirts and pets in bandanas)
- Gotcha Day (pictures of pets the day they were adopted)

TQL’ers who finished the 26.2 miles were entered in a drawing for $150 gift cards. The winners were Kaia F., Peighton M. and Cameron N.
Officially, the Dog Days of Summer was a doggone success. TQL’ers can learn more about the Pets Club, including the TQL Cares Pet Reimbursement Program and Pets Club Discounts, on The Hub.
