Fifth Annual Loads For A Cure Coming Soon
Move a lot. Care a lot.
That’s the theory behind the fifth annual Loads for a Cure campaign returning to TQL the week of Oct. 19.
TQL will donate a dollar to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Fund for every load moved that week.
TQL donated $21,765 to the American Cancer Society through the Loads program last year; the company has raised more than $120,000 to support breast cancer research and patients since 2010.
“Cancer affects every one of us at TQL, whether directly or indirectly,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL president. “We’re trying to increase our support of research in an effort to help find a cure and make cancer a distant memory.”
Loads for a Cure is one of two company-wide donation events based on TQL’s core business – moving freight.
The other – Hauls for Heroes – set a TQL single-week record in May for most loads moved and provided a $24,260 donation to the Yellow Ribbon Support Foundation, which sends care packages to active-duty military all over the world.
Loads for a Cure highlights a month-long Pinktober effort by TQL to raise awareness of - and financial support for - breast cancer research.
Other fundraising activities for the month include The Great Shave; employee teams around the country who raise a bounty earn the chance to shave a manager’s head Oct. 29.
In addition, there will be a tribute wall at TQL headquarters. For a $1 donation, employees can post a pink ribbon honoring the memory or supporting a loved one affected by breast cancer. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
