TQL Tampa Helps Homeless With #Hashtaglunchbag
Talk about your brown-bag work ethic.
Total Quality Logistics Tampa joined the grass-roots #HashtagLunchbag movement May 29, packing 300 lunch bags with sandwiches, fruit, snacks and water. Teams of TQL employees then hit the streets of downtown Tampa to distribute the bags to people in need.
“I first saw it on Facebook and thought it was a great idea,” said Rachel G., national sales recruiter in the Tampa office. “I saw the Tampa Bay Bucs were doing it and thought, ‘Why not us?’"
Why not, indeed? All it took was Rachel’s suggestion, some teammates willing to pitch in and some room to assemble the bags. TQL had plenty of hands on deck for the former and the recent move to Harbour Island afforded plenty of the latter.
“I look at us and we’re a young, cool company in a great location,” Rachel said. “We want to be a good part of the city. We’re a bunch of young, successful people, but there are a lot of people out there who don’t have the opportunities we do.
“What’s great about #HashtagLunchbag is it puts you in direct contact with people in need. It’s important to remember not everyone has what we do, and to be humble and grateful for what we do have.”
#HashtagLunchbag began on Christmas Day 2012 in Los Angeles and has grown nationwide. According to their website, “Our ongoing goal is (to) inspire others around the world to join us in our journey to feed and feel Love. We truly believe that small actions, from lots of people, can empower BIG change.”
TQL philanthropic endeavors focus on children’s initiatives, education, health and wellness, and military veterans’ causes. Connect with TQL on the web at TQL.com, on Facebook at Total Quality Logistics or on Twitter @TQLogistics.
