The beat goes on for heart health at TQL

By Shannon Russell

TQL’ers showed their passion for heart health by donating $25,200+, including a company match, to the American Heart Association (AHA) as part of American Heart Month in February.

The AHA holds a special place in TQL’ers’ hearts. We have raised $81,700+ during Heart Months since 2019.

What is Heart Month?
Heart Month spreads awareness about heart disease, the top killer in the United States, and encourages prevention through healthy lifestyle choices. The fundraiser supports the AHA’s mission to promote cardiovascular health.

How did TQL spread awareness?
TQL Cares and Charity Captains organized several heart healthy activities in February.

  • Gym Challenge: TQL’ers who exercised in the HQ and Lexington gyms were encouraged to place a heart-shaped sticker on a wall banner after a workout. Each sticker represented a $1 donation to the AHA.
  • Valentine’s Day snacks: TQL’ers filled their plates during Heart Healthy Potlucks on Feb. 14. TQL’ers shared heart smart food with their departments, from fresh fruit and veggies to turkey meatballs and energy bites. Valentine’s Day was also National Wear Red Day (and many TQL’ers did).
  • Trivia Challenge: TQL’s eighth edition of Heart Month Trivia Night was called “Eat Your Heart Out Trivia,” and it drew a record-setting 220 teams of TQL’ers. Teams of four competed live at HQ and virtually in our 60+ offices.
  • Bonus Bites: TQL’ers had opportunities to taste heart healthy foods at HQ during trivia. Kimchi, olive oil, sardines, cod liver, crickets and worms were on the menu for those who dared challenge their taste buds.
