TQL’s 12th Annual Military Appreciation Month
“As a son, brother and nephew of many vets, I want to say thank you and I appreciate you.” One note, from the 1,600 sent to our service members during TQL’s Military Month this May, that sums it up. While the tradition is a long one, TQL felt an even greater obligation to say thank you to our military as they tackle new territory battling a global pandemic. Thanks to the efforts of TQL employees, customers and carriers who built “virtual care packages”, TQL is sending over 6,700 snacks to military bases across the country. Cereal, granola bars, gum, beef jerky and cookies, coupled with notes from supporters all over the nation, will serve as a small reminder to those on the frontlines that they are not forgotten and greatly appreciated.
The reality of the needs that face our service members and veterans are more prevalent than ever during the COVID-19 crisis. TQL’s long time partners, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the United Service Organization (USO), have quickly pivoted to meet new needs. DAV has established a relief fund to help disabled veterans – a group more vulnerable to the coronavirus – get access to healthcare, find jobs through virtual job fairs, and provide economic relief. The USO is quickly scaling to serve the Reserves and Guard called up to serve contributing at food pantries, prisons with large COVID-19 outbreaks, and providing support for any FEMA-led national COVID-19 responses. To help address these new needs, the 12 year tradition of Hauls for Heroes was more important than ever. From May 11 to 17, TQL donated a portion of every load moved, raising $34,505 for the DAV and USO.
Since 2009, we have proudly supported our military, writing notes, sending care packages and donating over $258,000 dollars to military charities. We are not only honored to continue to stand with them during this time, but committed to hiring the best of the best, our veterans and service members. The knowledge and experience gained through military service translates exactly to the extraordinary work ethic of our team. Want to learn more about working for TQL?
