¡HOLA! highlights: Yesenia
Here Our Latins Achieve (¡HOLA!) is an Employee Resource Group at TQL. It creates an all-inclusive and diverse workplace where employees of the Latinx and Hispanic community find representation and belonging while developing the leaders of tomorrow.
¡HOLA! spotlights its members to share their stories of success. Meet Yesenia, a Senior Logistics Account Executive.
Share your story of how you became successful at TQL.
I started in West Side office in Cincinnati eight years ago, and at that time there weren’t many LAEs who spoke Spanish. I used my Spanish language skills to prospect the Hispanic market. I arrived for work early and stayed late to hit my goals because I wanted to be successful.
As my accounts grew, I added a team that I could trust. My philosophy was to train them as much as possible and show them how important they were. I also implemented processes so everything would run smoothly.
Because I'm really focused on customer service, I always answer customer emails and phone calls quickly. I’m in constant communication with customers to keep them updated on their loads. I’m an honest consultant, and someone customers can trust for logistics advice.
What advice would you give to young Latinx and Hispanic professionals who are starting their career?
Put your heart into all your efforts. It’s difficult at the beginning, but it’s worth it. Use the advantages of being bilingual in the Hispanic market and develop relationships. Be goal-oriented and accountable. Support the Latin community in your office and learn from successful people around you.
What motivates/inspires you?
I'm a goal-oriented person because my work is my brand, and I like when people have good professional opinions of me. My goals keep me going: traveling, investing and helping my family. Many of those dreams can come true by being successful at TQL.
What are some traditions or values from your heritage that are important to you?
Food is important to unite your family. You can plant ingredients with your dad or grandpa, cook with your mom or grandma and sit at the table with everyone to celebrate life events.
