TQL Tampa won the 11th annual Tampa Bay Club Sport Field Day competition benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters, its second consecutive Field Day victory.

TQL sponsored the Feb. 6 competition that included events like volley pong, the cherry pie hunt, dizzy bat spin, sack race, chain-gang relay, duck launch, obstacle course, wheelbarrow race, sponge relay and giant croquet.

LAE Chase W. preferred some of the more physical challenges.

“I’m always down to compete,” he said. “In the office or out. I’ve played sports for quite a long time and I have a twin, so I’m going to be competitive.”

Chase’s athletic background – he played safety at Marietta College in Ohio while earning his degree in accounting – serves him well on the sales floor.

“It’s a lot of type-A personalities around here,” he said. “We want the kind of people who want to compete in everything, not people who are going to be complacent or who want to settle.”

STL Mike C., who captained the winning team, said nobody on his squad wanted to settle.

“It shows that we have a winning mentality,” he said. “We go out there to have a good time, yes, but everybody works together and works hard. Win or lose, doing fun things like this will get people noticing us and will help recruiting get the kind of people we’re looking for to come here.”

TQL earned even more notice for BBBS Feb. 7, sponsoring a PSA in the Cincinnati market to tout the mentoring organization during Super Bowl 50. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati reported receiving as many inquiries overnight about being a mentor as it normally would in a four-month span.
