KSR Back With Team Lexington
Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones broadcast his two-hour sports call-in show from the offices of TQL Lexington Feb. 27. It was the second time in about six months TQL opened its doors for KSR.
Close to 150 visitors – most clad in UK blue and coming from as far away as Albuquerque, New Mexico – descended on 2473 Fortune Drive in Lexington to watch the show live. (They also devoured food and drinks intended to feed 200 people.)
Not surprisingly, most of the program was dedicated to discussion of the top-ranked 28-0 University of Kentucky men’s basketball team and its game the next day against the University of Arkansas.
One of the early calls came from Japan. A Lexington native now teaching English in the Land of the Rising Sun was up at midnight his time to ask Jones which Wildcat he would want to see on the free throw line at the end of a close game.
All the while, TQL Lexington did not skip a beat work wise. At one point a broker rang the bell to celebrate a new customer. Jones called him out for a wimpy chime.
“That’s all he’s got,” Jones asked? “Guy’s built like Adonis. Guy can bench press 300 pounds, but he goes up there and he’s like … ting. C’mon. You have to do it again. This is TQL; you gotta be loud.”
Office leader Lincoln was happy with the morning, especially when Jones mentioned TQLjobs.com and the chance to be a part of the Lexington team.
“This was a lot bigger than last time,” he said. “We had a lot more people in here. It was good to see that many people came out. A lot of the people who listen to KSR are the kind of people we want to hire. It was a good fit.”
KSR gave away a piece of the 1996 NCAA champion Rupp Arena floor, as well as a pair of tickets to the Arkansas-UK game at Rupp Arena set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.
Team Lexington is celebrating the successful broadcast with a happy hour at Drake’s after work.
