Flapjacks and fun: TQL’s Pancakes with Santa returns
Polar Express themed wonderland transforms Cincinnati HQBy Shannon Russell
All aboard! The Polar Express stopped at Total Quality Logistics for festivities, fun and flapjacks with guests of honor Santa and Mrs. Claus.
More than 1,500 TQL’ers and their families flocked to the 14th annual Pancakes with Santa celebration, Dec. 7 at Cincinnati HQ. The Polar Express theme, an homage to the book and movie of the same name, prompted kids to wear their favorite holiday pajamas.
TQL’ers were invited to a petting zoo menagerie – a donkey, camel, miniature pony and alpacas – outside HQ before entering a magically transformed destination fit for merrymaking, feasting and falalalala-ing.
Holiday fare and merrymaking
TQL’ers and their families enjoyed a complimentary breakfast of made-to-order pancakes, Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, and biscuits and gravy. They were treated to assorted beverages including orange juice, coffee and a hot chocolate bar.
A slate of Pancakes with Santa activities entertained the young at heart. As they navigated a wintry wonderland, kids belted out a Christmas sing-along on a Polar Express train ride, spun a Polar Express Prize Wheel for goodies and operated small model trains as part of Conductor’s Corner. Conductors’ hats were handed out on all the train rides.
Young TQL’ers were invited to select a bear at a Teddy Bear Workshop craft station, where they colored and designed TQL-branded teddy bear shirts. They also wrote and mailed letters to the North Pole via TQL’s Santa Letters station.
Fun with a purpose
TQL Cares, TQL’s philanthropic team, raised funds for A Kid Again, a Cincinnati-based charity serving families raising kids with life-threatening conditions. Not only did TQL Cares host a Train Track Toss station where kids shot basketballs on low rims, but it also donated $5,000 to the nonprofit following the event.
Dancers jazzed up the spirited atmosphere as TQL’ers snapped pictures with a snow princess. With exclusive items for purchase at the TQL Gear Shop and personalized beverages available at the Rise N Grind, there was something for everyone at Pancakes with Santa.
But the biggest draw of all? Santa and Mrs. Claus reprised their roles as the event’s heralded guests. They posed for complimentary photos with kids and families in another TQL funfest to remember.
