VETS stories of success: Cody
Veteran Employees Targeting Success (VETS), one of TQL’s Employee Resource Groups, attracts and develops military, veteran, military family and supporter talent.
This VETS spotlight features TQL'ers who have served our country. Meet Cody, a Senior Logistics Account Executive and Army veteran.
What motivated you to enlist?
When I was 18, I was working at a dead-end job and living with my mother while trying to raise my daughter. I needed to jump-start my life and career so I could provide for her.
What are the benefits of having your military experience at TQL?
You learn a lot about yourself and what you're willing to put yourself through after being in the military. Having to grind and make phone calls and be available at all times is nothing compared to being deployed in a war zone.
What motivates/inspires you?
My children. Providing the life for them that I wasn't lucky enough to have is a huge motivation for me.
Do you have a TQL mentor? If so, how is that beneficial to you?
Chris Wiles and Justin Tall have been mentors to me. I wouldn't be successful at TQL without the advice given to me and the talks I've had with both gentlemen.
Having served, what do you appreciate most about our military?
I appreciate that our military helps us enjoy the freedom of being an American. Seeing firsthand how things are in other countries makes me extremely grateful to be an American and happy to fight for our country.
What resources did you find beneficial when returning to civilian life?
The VA was a big resource for me. Getting healthcare through the VA provides a nice bridge between military/civilian lifestyles.
