Holiday Cards Provide Holiday Cheer for Children’s Hospital Patients
For the second straight year, TQL employees and Cincinnati residents helped make a sick child’s holiday just a bit merrier by sending cards of holiday cheer to patients at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
The Christmas Card campaign was a huge success, brightening the days of many children forced to spend all or part of their holidays in the hospital. The campaign nearly tripled its output this year, growing from 1,000 cards in 2018 to more than 3,000.
The annual campaign is run through the TQL Foundation, which in 2018 pledged a $1 million donation to the Proton Therapy Center at Cincinnati Children’s, to be paid over a four-year period, to help improve cancer care in the Cincinnati region.
The Proton Therapy Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is one of the most advanced proton research centers in the world, offering treatment for children and adults. Proton beam therapy utilizes state-of-the-art technology to destroy cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues and organs. The cutting-edge technology leads to fewer short-term side effects and fewer long-term complications as compared to traditional radiation therapy.
Cancer has touched the lives of many TQL employees, and many work themselves to raise money and awareness of the disease. Typically, health care causes generate the most money raised by TQL employees, with more than one in five employees making a contribution in a given year.
